The Shedeur Sanders saga is far from over. As the Cleveland Browns rookie continues to wait for his chance to debut under center, his brother, Deion “Bucky” Sanders Jr., made his opinion very clear about naming Dillon Gabriel as the team’s starter for the Week 5 game.
The Browns are in the midst of a deep crisis. After the first month of the regular season, the team is mired in last place in the AFC North with a 1-3 record. In a desperate attempt to rebound, head coach Kevin Stefanski benched veteran Joe Flacco to give Gabriel the reins starting this week.
The move, which leaves him stuck at third on the depth chart, didn’t sit well with Sanders. However, when reporters asked him for his opinion, the young quarterback pulled out his best mime skills, moving his mouth without saying anything. Criticism was swift, but his brother spoke loudly and clearly in his place.
Deion Jr. clapping back at critics
Social media savagely trolled Shedeur for his unusual response to the questions. However, Bucky was quick to send a message to anyone who felt offended. “People who ‘blend in’ trying to teach people who ‘stand out’ how to ‘blend in.’ Basically, advice on how to be average.”
Deion Jr. is the official videographer for the Sanders family. Through his platform, Well Off Media, the eldest son of NFL icon Deion Sanders promotes every step his remarkable family takes. What’s more, he’s one of the first to come out and defend them in the many controversies they’ve been involved in, and he’s not the only one.
Coach Prime applauds Shedeur
True to form, Deion Sr. couldn’t stay away from the controversy. “Good 1 son. You did that,” the Colorado Buffaloes head coach said via X (formerly Twitter), giving his seal of approval to Shedeur’s response.
While fans and media remain fascinated by Shedeur’s mime-like impersonation, the Browns will be the administrative home for the Week 5 game against the Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Fans will be watching the game closely to see if Gabriel can hold his own under center in Cleveland or if Shedeur’s opportunity is about to come.
