Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha Curry continue to show unity amid a wave of online debate following Ayesha’s recent comments about marriage and motherhood.

Despite social media speculation, the Currys appear unfazed, standing together both publicly and personally as back during her appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Ayesha reflected openly on her early views about relationships.

“So I didn’t want kids. I didn’t want to get married,” Ayesha said. “I thought I was going to be a ‘career girl’ and that’s it.”

Mrs Curry’s honesty quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions from fans who interpreted her remarks in various ways with some suggesting that she had to choose to give up her life as an actress.

She had initially moved to Los Angeles after graduating high school in a bid to make it in Hollywood beginning in short films, before she began dating her eventual husband in 2008, whom she first met in 2003.

The pair have been married since 2011 and share four children, Riley (13), Ryan (10), Canon (seven), and their newest addition, baby Cai, one, meaning that Ayesha had to forgo her early life ambitions to be a homemaker.

However, she and the Golden State Warriors star seemed unbothered by the chatter online as this week, they were seen side by side at the launch of Steph’s new bourbon speakeasy, The 8th Rule, in San Francisco.

Ayesha celebrated the milestone on Instagram, posting a photo of herself in a red sheer dress standing proudly beside the four-time NBA champion, making a comment that left little doubt about her decision to chose her life partner.

“I always wanted to marry a bourbon man. @the8thrule bourbon inspired speakeasy opens October 10th in SF! I am so proud of you @stephencurry30!” Ayesha wrote.

Whilst Steph’s brand, Gentleman’s Cut, responded warmly to the post by commenting, “Behind every gentleman is a great woman.”

Despite the couple’s joyful celebration, some social media users continued to revisit Ayesha’s comments. One critic wrote, “Shawty trying to change the narrative.”

However, another fan defended them, saying, “Y’all arguing about their relationship and they still getting money.”

Steph rushes to defend Ayesha from critics

This isn’t the first time Ayesha has handled public scrutiny with grace. Shortly after her comments began trending, she quietly posted a family photo featuring Steph and their four children, captioned simply: “Life lately.”

The understated response was widely seen as a message that the family remains grounded despite the noise.

Steph, known for supporting his wife publicly, also stepped in to defend her after rapper Killer Mike echoed criticism that Ayesha had “embarrassed” him with her remarks.

“Naaaa not you Mike,” Steph wrote. “I’m cool staying silent and letting these other clowns have their moment…

“But you’re better than that. Stay in your lane and let God keep blessing me like he is. We r [sic] good over here.”
