Deion Sanders almost loses control when he gets angry with Julian “JuJu” Lewis and sets him straight

During Colorado’s recent practice session, Deion Sanders paused drills mid-practice to call out freshman quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis and the exchange quickly became a teaching moment for the entire team.

In a clip shared by LockedOnBuffs on October 16, Sanders halted practice after noticing a series of mistakes that had gone unaddressed.

Turning his focus toward Lewis, the coach’s tone turned sharp and commanding as he called for accountability.

“Have you said something… have you said anything?” Sanders demanded, visibly frustrated as the team looked on.

Lewis attempted to defend himself, responding, “I thought he was right the one time.” But that explanation didn’t sit well with Coach Prime, who expects his quarterbacks to lead loudly and decisively.

“So we’ve had three bad snaps… and you don’t even tell him. So he don’t know. He don’t know. Take control of this! It’s got to be better,” Sanders said, his voice echoing through the practice facility.

Accountability at the core of Coach Prime’s culture

The moment came as Colorado entered its first bye week of the season. While some teams use the break to rest and recover, Sanders used it to sharpen his players’ discipline and focus.

At the Ford Practice Facility, starters watched from the sidelines while younger and reserve players were put through a spirited scrimmage, ensuring that competition remained fierce even without a weekend matchup.

Among those who made the most of the opportunity was running back Ronald Coleman. Before the session, Coleman promised Deion Sanders Jr., CEO of Well Off Media, that he’d score. True to his word, he broke free for a seven-yard touchdown run that earned nods of approval from the coaching staff.

Walk-on quarterback Dominiq Ponder also made a lasting impression. On one play, instead of sliding or stepping out of bounds, Ponder lowered his shoulder and plowed through cornerback Kyle Carpenter for extra yardage.

The crowd roared, and Coach Prime couldn’t hide his satisfaction, that kind of toughness, he’s often said, is what separates the committed from the complacent.

NFC North Best Division in NFL, But Not For Reason You May Think

With three playoff teams in 2024, the NFC North was arguably the best division in football last season. It looks just as strong so far in 2025, and Charles Woodson is ready to say that the NFC North is the best division in the NFL again. However, Woodson's reasoning for giving the NFC North that title isn't necessarily because the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers are playing so well again, or because the Minnesota Vikings are right there in playoff contention. "They're the best division in football for a reason: You're only as strong as your weakest link. You look at the Chicago Bears and the way they're playing football right now, Caleb Williams and this team are starting to believe in Ben Johnson," Woodson said on "FOX NFL Kickoff." "You look at the Chicago Bears, and they're starting to get […]
