České tenistky nezvládly letošní ostravskou kvalifikaci o postup na finálový turnaj do Číny. Už tam neměl Pála k ruce hvězdy Barboru Krejčíkovou, Markétu Vondroušovou, Karolínu Muchovou ani Kateřinu Siniakovou. Nyní navíc chybí i Marie Bouzková.
„Řada holek je zraněných, hodně se jich omluvilo, že se potřebují doléčit, jak skončí sezona. Nechal jsem tam ještě jedno volné místečko, kdyby se cokoli změnilo nebo posunulo. Chci, aby tým byl pětičlenný, jaké jméno to bude, to ještě uvidíme,“ vysvětloval Pála, nejúspěšnější kapitán v dějinách ženské týmové soutěže. K triumfu vedl Češky šestkrát (2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 a 2018). Po změně formátu a názvu na Billie Jean King Cup ale úspěšné období skončilo.
Padesátiletý Pála po této sezoně končí na své pozici a role kapitánky se ujme bývalá úspěšná členka týmu Barbora Strýcová, která v Chorvatsku také bude. „Cíl je jasný. Člověk to chce předat co nejlíp na další rok. Jen první místo nám zaručí, že holky budou příští rok bojovat o nejvyšší příčky,“ připomněl před svou derniérou šéf lavičky, jenž hodně spoléhá na novou českou jedničku Lindu Noskovou.

„Terka Valentová jde nahoru žebříčkem a hraje výborný turnaj v Asii, tak věřím, že jí forma vydrží. Sára Bejlek se už dostala do první světové stovky. A Nikola Bartůňková zaznamenala zlepšení nejen herní, ale i žebříčkové, kdy se posunula na pozice kolem 130. místa,“ připomněl Pála.
Ve Varaždínu (14.-16. listopadu) potřebují Češky nechat pod sebou Kolumbii i domácí Chorvatky. „Je to samozřejmě slušný los, přes oba soupeře se dá projít, když budou hrát holky dobře. Domácí tam budou mít Donnu Vekičovou, které se sice teď nedařilo, ale pořád je to tenistka, co umí porazit velké soupeřky. Výborně hrála na olympiádě v Paříži, určitě bude doma nepříjemná. A Chorvati umějí na sportu výborně fandit…“ dodal kapitán před závěrečným představením na české lavičce.
