José Boto projeta a próxima temporada e alfineta o Palmeiras: ‘Não tem a grandeza do Flamengo’

O Flamengo sai da temporada de 2025 mais campeão do que entrou. Foram sete troféus, entre eles os da Copa Libertadores da América e do Campeonato Brasileiro. No entanto, embora tenha o melhor elenco da América do Sul, o diretor de futebol do clube, José Boto, afirmou que sabe que a próxima temporada será ainda mais difícil. Em entrevista ao podcast “No Princípio Era a Bola”, do jornal “Tribuna Expresso”, de Portugal, Boto revelou ainda que o Campeonato Brasileiro seguirá como prioridade na Gávea e, por isso, será necessário um elenco melhor.

“Acho que a temporada vai ser mais difícil porque não é fácil repetirmos o que fizemos. Conhecendo a imprensa e a torcida, eles vão exigir o mesmo e mais ainda, mesmo que não exista mais para ganhar. É bom porque o presidente tem essa noção, nós vamos entrar para ganhar, mas não são todos os anos que se repete isso. Existem duas competições que são fundamentais para nós, o Brasileirão e a Libertadores. Sabendo que a Libertadores, como toda competição eliminatória, é mais difícil de prever, por isso o nosso objetivo sempre é sermos campeões do Brasileirão”, avaliou.

“A grande preocupação que tenho é a quantidade de férias que os jogadores vão ter para que limpem a cabeça. Temos tudo planejado para que o elenco seja melhor. Nunca existe um plantel perfeito, há sempre coisas a ajustar, mesmo quando achamos que está ótimo. Temos tudo isso planejado, mas não vai ser fácil repetir uma temporada como essa. É importante irmos, ao longo deste percurso, vendo que tipo de rendimento alguns jogadores são capazes de dar ou não, e irmos ajustando com calma, sem grandes revoluções. Porque há essa parte emocional que tem um peso enorme no Brasil e não tem tanto aqui na Europa”, concluiu.

Boto quer fazer o Flamengo mais europeu

Ainda sobre a montagem do elenco, Boto fez questão de analisar os mercados em que o clube deve investir na contratação de jogadores. Conforme a sua análise, o Flamengo precisa ultrapassar a barreira do continente. Tudo isso faz parte da meta de tornar o elenco e o clube cada vez mais próximos da cultura e da mentalidade europeia.

“Claramente, o mercado sul-americano é, neste momento, pequeno para aquilo que é a realidade do Flamengo e a cultura do Flamengo. Não quer dizer que não haja no Brasil, na Argentina ou no Equador jogadores com muito potencial. Mas no Flamengo é preciso trazer jogadores prontos para jogar, pela pressão que existe. Isso é outra coisa que influencia muito: se não lidas bem com a pressão, com o Maracanã cheio, com uma imprensa agressiva todos os dias… E é óbvio que jogadores com mais bagagem, mais experiência, suportam isso melhor do que outros. Além dessa ideia, há também a intenção de trazer uma cultura mais europeia para dentro do clube”, disse.

“E tendo essas referências que temos hoje, Danilo, Jorginho, Alex Sandro, que são exemplos da forma como encaram a profissão, isso acaba por influenciar todos os outros. Essa é uma das ideias que tivemos e que fez parte do padrão de contratações. Não eram só jogadores de que precisávamos em termos técnicos ou táticos, mas também a nível de mentalidade, que trouxessem um plus ao clube”, completou.

Ao falar da base, diretor alfineta o Palmeiras

José Boto usou o rival Palmeiras para comparar a utilização de jogadores da base do clube. O diretor citou como exemplo o caso do zagueiro João Victor, que entrou em alguns jogos do time no Brasileirão e não foi bem. Boto alfinetou o clube paulista em sua análise.

“(Transição da base para o profissional) Nisso o Palmeiras está mais à frente. Não em termos de melhores jogadores na formação, mas na transição que faz para o nível profissional. Nós vamos tentar caminhar nesse sentido. Uma das coisas que fizemos foi com o Alfredo (Almeida), para ter ligação direta conosco, sabendo que são contextos completamente diferentes. O Palmeiras, apesar da grandeza que tem, não tem a grandeza do Flamengo. Vou dar um exemplo: nós tivemos que fazer dois jogos com um sub-17 (João Victor) como defesa central, que não esteve mal, mas teve ali um deslize que o mataram. Vai ser um zagueiro top, de Europa, em cinco, seis anos. Mas ali mataram. Vai ser muito difícil voltar a jogar ali com o nível de confiança que um menino daquela idade precisa”, afirmou.

“Nós temos que levar isso em conta e, se calhar, perceber que o mais correto não é ir buscar outro defesa central, porque aquele tem um potencial enorme. Mas, se calhar, o mais correto naquele contexto é irmos comprar outro central e vendê-lo, deixando uma porcentagem grande para nós desse jogador. A pressão no Palmeiras é diferente da do Flamengo. Não estamos a falar de o jogador não estar pronto para jogar. Estamos a falar de irem às redes sociais do miúdo, da mãe, darem cabo dele, dizerem que fez de propósito. Coisas completamente loucas, às quais não estamos habituados na Europa”, finalizou.

Dirigente traça um perfil de Filipe Luís

O técnico Filipe Luís também foi assunto para o dirigente. Ao ser perguntado sobre o estilo do treinador do Flamengo, Boto mostrou que conseguiu conhecer melhor o profissional nesta primeira temporada de parceria. Na visão do diretor rubro-negro, embora tenha aprendido muito com Simeone, o estilo do técnico é mais parecido com o de Pep Guardiola.

“O Brasil tem vários países dentro, e ele é de uma zona de Santa Catarina que tem muita influência alemã. Ele tem um perfil que tem pouco a ver com o carioca, um perfil muito mais frio, mais racional. E também pelos anos de Europa. Nos últimos seis, sete anos da carreira, ele se preparou muito para ser treinador. Ele aprendeu muita coisa com o Simeone, liderança, comportamentos defensivos, mas eu acho ele muito mais próximo de um Guardiola, de um Arteta, de um Maresca, de um De Zerbi. Acho muito mais próximo disso do que do Simeone ou mesmo do Jesus. Porque tem uma forma diferente de encarar o jogo. Também tem muito a ver com o assistente principal dele, que é espanhol e tem toda a escola do Barcelona, do jogo posicional, e isso se nota muito no que é o jogo do Flamengo hoje”, analisou.
