Em entrevista concedida à ESPN, o lateral fez uma análise sincera de seus primeiros meses no clube. Segundo ele, uma lesão no tendão, que o afastou dos gramados por cerca de quatro meses, atrapalhou diretamente seu rendimento, assim como a ausência de uma pré-temporada completa.
Royal destacou que, logo após se recuperar, foi lançado como titular com pouco tempo de treinamento, o que dificultou uma adaptação ideal. Ainda assim, reforçou que sempre esteve disposto a ajudar a equipe e compreende a cobrança vinda das arquibancadas.
— Não estava preparado 100%, mas estava à disposição, falei para o Filipe que estava para ajudar, tentei fazer o meu melhor. Às vezes sai bem, às vezes não. Entendi a cobrança, visto a camisa do maior clube do Brasil. Estou ciente disso. Posso entregar muito mais e vou entregar. Vou descansar, fazer a pré-temporada e começar 2026 voando. É o meu objetivo. Tenho os caminhos, sou bom jogador, sei do potencial e quem eu sou.
Números discretos, mas títulos importantes
Apesar das dificuldades individuais, Emerson Royal fez parte de um elenco vitorioso. Em 19 partidas disputadas no segundo semestre, o lateral marcou um gol e deu uma assistência, contribuindo para as conquistas da Libertadores e do Campeonato Brasileiro.
