Das nächste Kapitel in seiner Strafakte?

Wide Receiver Rashee Rice (25) ist wieder einmal Mittelpunkt eines möglichen Skandals. Seine Ex-Freundin Dacoda Nichole Jones, mit der der Teamkollege von Quarterback-Superstar Patrick Mahomes zwei gemeinsame Kinder hat, hat schwere Missbrauchsvorwürfe gegen den NFL-Star der Kansas City Chiefs erhoben.

So postete Jones am Mittwoch auf ihrem Instagram-Account Fotos von Prellungen und Wunden an vielen Stellen ihres Körpers. Dazu erhob sie Vorwürfe über jahrelangen Missbrauch. Den Namen von Rice nannte sie nicht. Allerdings schrieb sie, dass die Person, die sie misshandelt habe, Vater ihrer Kinder sei.

Und: „Ich bin es leid, zu schweigen und seinen Ruf zu beschützen. Ich musste in den acht Jahren so viel durchmachen, und ich habe genug!“ Seit der Trennung von Rice vor ein paar Monaten „ist es nichts anderes als die Hölle.“

Mittlerweile hat sie den Post wieder gelöscht. Bis Mittwochabend hatte Jones auch noch keine Anklage wegen häuslicher Gewalt erstattet.

Rice wurde bereits letztes Jahr verurteilt und gesperrt

Auch die Chiefs haben die Situation zur Kenntnis genommen und mit einem Statement reagiert. „Der Klub ist sich der Anschuldigungen in den sozialen Medien bewusst und steht in Kontakt mit der National Football League.“ Und: „Zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt geben wir keinen weiteren Kommentar ab.“

Es ist nicht das erste Mal, dass Rice negativ auffällt. Bereits im vergangenen Juli wurde der Passempfänger in Dallas zu 30 Tagen Gefängnis und fünf Jahren auf Bewährung verurteilt. Er hatte sich zuvor ein Straßenrennen geleistet, dabei eine Massen-Karambolage verursacht, bei der es Verletzte gab. In einem Video des Unfalls, an dem sechs Fahrzeuge beteiligt waren, war zu sehen, wie Rice mit Freunden zu Fuß flüchtete, statt sich um Verletzte zu kümmern.

[–>Vor Gericht bekannte er sich dann in zwei Anklagepunkten (Kollision mit schwerer Körperverletzung und Straßenrennen mit Körperverletzung) schuldig. Er erhielt eine bedingte Strafaussetzung. Auch die NFL reagierte damals und sperrte Rice für die ersten sechs Spiele der laufenden Saison. Nun droht der nächste Eklat.

Auch sportlich lief es für Rice und Co. dieses Jahr nicht. Zum ersten Mal in der Mahomes-Ära verpassten die Chiefs die Playoffs. Diese beginnen am kommenden Wochenende mit der Wildcard Round.
