ICE settlement for $92.5 million: Who qualifies for a check of up to $10,000?
In this same space we had already informed you of a class action lawsuit against theU.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that was filed some time ago by those affected by a request initiative in which people were illegally detained in jails and penitentiaries in the state ofNew York after their release date.ICE was looking for people to deport within jails, federal prisons and rehabilitation programs, and in order to initiate deportation proceedings, it issued an order requesting that they remain detained for 48 hours, which is clearly illegal.Well, the lawsuit was settled last December in favor of the complainants, which resulted in $92.5 million in compensation, so these resources will be distributed among those affected, people who were detained after their scheduled release date, between April 1, 1997 and December 21, 2012.Helicopter crashes in Hudson River - VIDEOWho qualifies […]
