Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg roasted for not recognizing NBA greats
Cooper Flagg arrived in Dallas under a glare of expectation, the No. 1 overall pick, fresh off a dominant freshman season at Duke, expected to carry huge promise. But at one Mavericks media day event, he found himself wrestling with perhaps the least flattering of rookie tests: identifying retired stars from the year he was born.In a "name-that-player" segment, Flagg was shown trading cards of NBA players drafted in 2006, the same year he entered the world. He struggled. Asked to identify Hedo Turkoglu, he admitted: "Not good to start. Don't know him."
